New character banners for New Moon!

Twihards rejoice! With only weeks left until the second chapter of the Twilight saga, the bloodthirsty legions among you are being kept sated by some terrifically tasty posters released today.

Featuring a look at Michael Sheen and Dakota Fanning as two of the Volturi, the pics also feature the more familiar characters of Bella, Edward and the Cullen family, as well as another look at emo tribesmen the Wolf Pack.

Take a gander, and try not to get too giddy (courtesy of Collider)…

We’re not sure how much brooding we can take! R-Pattz is doing his whole ‘looking weird on posters’ thing, and everybody else is doing their best to be as pale as possible.

As for the Wolf Pack, they look like the cast of Reservation Creek.

The Volturi poster is perhaps the most interesting, featuring solid Brit thesp Michael Sheen in a role where he doesn’t have to pretend to be a living person, and an ever-more-grown-up Dakota Fanning, who we swear shoots up a few inches every time we look away.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon is released 20 November. We can’t wait.

Twi-Hard? or Twi-shite? Leave your mark…

First pics of Will Ferrell in The Other Guys

It’s only recently started shooting, but the first images of Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg and some of the rest of the cast in The Other Guys are already online.

Despite being unofficial snaps taken on the set of the film, they may as well be studio stills from Adam McKay’s latest comedy.

And though they’re not the most exciting images of cops in action - no explodey action yet, folks, it’s interesting to see Ferrell downplaying his look in a grey suit and big specs, while Wahlberg rocks a more conventional movie detective look.

Also to be found here are former Daily Show reporter Rob Riggle and Damon Wayans Jr as another cop team from the film, which features at least three trios of officers (Sam Jackson and Dwayne Johnson are the super cops that everyone else aspires to be.

We just have our fingers crossed that the combination of Ferrell and McKay - you know, the team behind Anchorman and Talladega Nights - can deliver another solid comedy effort…

New poster for The Mechanic

Cast your mind back to some of the great movie posters of all time; the one-sheet teaser for Tim Burton’s Batman, Otto Preminger’s Anatomy Of A Murder...

Unsurprisingly perhaps, the first banner for Simon West’s The Mechanic won’t be joining them.

Designed by someone who probably hates movies, the poster has all the finesse and allure of a crowbar to the face, decidng to show us only a glimpse of Jason ‘Hardest Working Action Hero’ Statham.

Then the poster assaults our ocular region with a brash, bold and frankly arrogant typeface screaming about the director, and improbably, the writer.

Take a look, courtesy of Collider;

The film is a remake of the classic Charles Bronson film from back in ‘72, which tells the tale of a retiring hitman and the apprentice he trains to take his place.

West was of course responisible for ‘Die Hard On A Prison Plane’ flick Con Air, and last brought us toothless horror remake When A Stranger Calls back in 2006.

Full cast details are yet to be released, but based on this poster, we’re expecting Transporter 3 at best.

Is The Stath strong enough to carry this on his own? Or is he so awesome he can do anything? Let us know.

8 Clips from New York, I Love You

Cast your minds back to 2006 and you may recall a film our Gallic neighbours produced titled Paris Je T’aime, or Paris, I Love You for all the shy-lingual out there.

Well now New York is muscling in on the action, cast as the back drop for a second series of short films set in the city.

With segments directed by Mira Nair, Shekar Kapur, Natalie Portman and er… Brett Ratner, and starring literally every actor working in American cinema; from Bradley Cooper to Chris Cooper via Shia La Beouf, Andy Garcia and James Caan.

Just as we were about to get excited about the fact that Rachel Bilson turns up, we realised she brings baggage with her in the form of boyfriend Hayden Christensen. Joy.

Check out the clips below, courtesy of hard-working Collider;

Not sure how this one will compare to the light and whimsical comedy of the Paris version, but it looks promising enough, and to be honest with the cast on display contains enough talent to keep even the most leaky ship afloat.

Expect to see it in cinemas sometime around February next year.

New York, I Love You? Or why, God, why Hayden Christensen? Let us know your thoughts.

New Nightmare On Elm Street teaser online

An all-new teaser for Samuel Bayer/Michael Bay’s Nightmare On Elm Street rework has crept out onto the internet, wearing a red and black-striped jumper and brandishing a knife blade-glove (metaphorically).

It features the same footage that left ‘em whooping at July’s Comic-Con, focusing on dream-dwelling child-killer Freddy Krueger’s origin story and flashing plenty of delicious glimpses of Jackie Earle Haley wearing a red and black-striped jumper and brandishing a knife blade-glove (literally).

We’re normally pretty grumpy about horror remakes, but this looks the blood-streaked business - a long way from the overly jokey pap of the likes of Freddy vs Jason. See the trailer below…

The movie is out in the US on 30 April 2010.

Thoughts? Does JEH look and feel the part? Are you excited - or shouldn’t we just be happy with Wes Craven’s original?
