Harry Potter gets another new trailer

Harry Potter

Harry Potter’s big screen bow-out is starting to look every bit as epic as the 600+ page book it’s based on, with a new trailer shoving in everything but the Hogwarts kitchen sink.

Really, the WB needn’t do that much promotion for the last two-part HP flick - the series already has a massive in-built fanbase.

They seem to be enjoying making these new trailers and cranking out the “it’s the most epicest movie, like, ever!” tags, though - and when they’re as slick as this we really can’t complain.

Cramming in as much magical imagery into two and a half minutes as it’s possible to get, this last Potter venture certainly looks to be cracking the whip, with emotions running high and special effects whizzing all over the place.

Check out the new trailer below (and look out for Daniel Radcliffe in a skirt)…

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 1 opens worldwide on 19 November.

True Grit trailer debuts online

True Grit trailer

True Grit, the beloved John Wayne epic practically synonymous with the Western genre, was always going to be a difficult sell for the remake treatment.

You can’t bet against the Coen Brothers however; the pair have put any lingering doubts to rest in a haunting, brutal and poetic teaser.

Having the heft of recent Oscar-winner and long time collaborator Jeff Bridges to fill The Duke’s boots certainly helps - Bridges cuts a striking figure as US Marshall ‘Rooster’ Cogburn, eyepatch, stubble and all.

The story follows 14-year-old Mattie Ross, who sets out to capture the man who murdered her father. She enlists the help of Reuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn a tough US Marshall with unorthodox methods.

The pair set out on a quest that will lead them deep into Indian territory, a mission that will ensure their lives will never be the same.

Check out the trailer below;

Adding a large helping of Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and the kind of filmmaking that won the brothers an Oscar for No Country For Old Men, the Coen’s take on True Grit looks set to have critics rolling out words like masterpiece and instant classic all over again.

No doubt the Academy will be enscribing True Grit on a few gold chaps come March.

True Grit will mosey onto UK screens January 11 2011.

Yogi Bear trailer online

Yogi Bear

Yogi Bear’s first movie trailer has been released online, and gives us a fair idea of what we should expect from the pic-er-nic-loving grizzly’s first big screen outing.

Sadly, it’s sort of what we feared. Namely dodgy, Scooby-Doo-style CGI, lame gags (pie in the face…) and some iffy attempts at integrating the CG critters with footage of live action actors.

Then there’s the dancing. Uhuh… Dancing…

Jumping on the recession bandwagon, Yogi Bear: The Movie finds Jellystone Park in financial trouble after lacklustre business. Shut down by evil Mayor Brown, Yogi and Boo Boo decide to fight for their right to stay in the park.

Check out the trailer below.

Yogi Bear opens in the UK in February 2011.

Joss Whedon talks up The Avengers

Joss Whedon

Joss Whedon has talked with those lovely people over at SFX about his upcoming, much-anticipated comic book movie adap The Avengers.

In the exclusive chat, the one-time Buffy creator and all-round geek guru revealed the difficulty of keeping the momentum going when there are so many interesting dynamics to play with.

“What I will struggle with, in the outline and throughout, is that I would like to put these actors in a room and just make Glengarry Glen Ross,” he jests. “We’re talking about really exciting people and at the same time I have to keep the momentum of the thing going. I can’t let it turn into a lull fest.”

He does promise, however, that “by the end of the movie you will feel ‘in’ with these guys”, something that he is certain to pull off. Considering the skill with which he balanced a multitude of different characters on Buffy, Angel and Firefly, we have no doubt that he can do justice to the Avengers.

Meanwhile, Whedon adds that he’s especially excited to have Mark Ruffalo on board as the new Hulk, after Ed Norton’s much-publicised departure.

“[Marvel] don’t hire Mark Ruffalo to say one iconic line and strike a pose,” he says. “They hire him because he has so much humanity in him. He’s the antithesis of the iconic actor. He’s so human.

“He was my first choice to play the part, and the fact he is playing the part is nuts! They went to great lengths to make that happen and they understood exactly why he was right for the part.”

Woman In Black image released online

Woman In Black

Daniel Radcliffe has been revealed in very un-Harry Potter garb in the first image snapped on the set of his new movie The Woman In Black.

With slicked back black hair, a snug olde days suit, and a pocket watch for kicks, it’s about as far away from the look of the boy wizard as Radcliffe could hope to get without shaving his head.

The Woman In Black is the second big project for the newly resurrected Hammer Horror studios, who are also behind the upcoming Let Me In.

Considering the massively positive buzz that Matt Reeves’ remake of the Swedish vamp flick has been receiving, Radcliffe could definitely be on to a winner with Woman In Black.

Directed by Eden Lake’s James Watkins, the film follows Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), a young lawyer who travels to a remote village to order the papers of a dead client.

Working alone, Kipp uncovers some shocking secrets and catches glimpses of a woman dressed in black…
