James Cameron’s love affair with 3D continues with the planned re-release of his 1997 blockbuster, Titanic.

While Cameron’s remarks at last years Comic-con sent the rumour mill into overdrive, few actually believed they would come to fruition.

But now the 55 year old director has announced that he not only plans to go ahead with the ‘3D-ification’ of his record-breaking movie, but that the project is already well underway.

"We’re looking at spring of 2012 for the release, which is the 100th anniversary of the sailing of the ship," said Cameron, before offering us a warning.

"It’s never going to look as good as if you shot it in 3D, but think of it as a sort of 2.8D”.

On it’s first release Titanic took a record breaking $1.8bn worldwide, but this was eclipsed by the $2.8bn made by Cameron’s own film Avatar - a film that Cameron has also talked of re-releasing this Autumn as a director’s cut.

"The question is [whether] the appetite is still going to be there after the summer glut of movies," Cameron said.

“We’re going to assess that. We’re talking about maybe adding in additional footage and doing something creative."

Is re-releasing films in 3D a good idea? Let us know!

Paramount have roped in Miles Millar and Alfred Gough to adapt the grisly, body-swapping comic Existence 2.0 for the big screen.

The Smallville creators are also named as executive producers of the project, along with Circle of Confusion’s Rick Jacobs.

Existence 2.0 follows the amoral physicist and all round bad egg Sylvester Baladine, who finds his consciousness transferred to the body of the hit-man who has just killed him.

Baladine seems quite happy to waltz around living the life of a hit-man; killing people and having a younger, better-looking body equates to living the dream for Sylvester.

It’s not until he discovers that his estranged daughter is in grave danger that he decides to change his ways and put his (second) life on the line for someone else.

Nick Spencer and Ronald Salas’ graphic novel has all the gory, stylised violence, witty dialogue and pop-culture references necessary to make this a hit. That is if it can avoid falling on the ever-growing scrapheap of failed comic-book adaptations.

Existence 2.0 will be produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes imprint, which has also barbequed many recent horror remakes (and is about to serve up A Nightmare On Elm Street).

Have you had your fill of comic-book adaptations? Or will this restore your faith? Comment!

Leo stars along side Oscar-winner Marion Cottilard and Ellen Page in the complex thriller that looks set to enthral and confuse audiences in equal measure.

“Christopher Nolan has been able to take highly complex jigsaw puzzles in a narrative and put them together in a way that we could have never foreseen” he said.

“When you look at a film like Memento, I don’t know how a filmmaker is able to pull a narrative like that off.”

Inception will centre on a pioneering technology, which allows people enter the minds of others.

Dicaprio plays Cobb, an expert on the new technology and very much at the centre of things, although Nolan has stressed that Inception is an ensemble film, describing it as an action-adventure which “spans the globe”.

Further than this, the trail goes cold. The Dark Knight helmer has been playing his cards very close to his chest in terms of plotlines.

“This is a plot-structure that’s working on multiple layers simultaneously.” Leo adds. Cryptic bastard.

Guess we will have to wait till July 16th to learn just what these multiple layers are, and if any of them make a bit of sense.

Could Inception be Nolan’s best film? Or wish he’d just get on with Batman 3? Leave a comment!

Oh, can’t they just cast him already?

Marvel are making a right jamboree about their casting of Captain America, and frankly we just want the deal to be done so we can stop chewing our nails into dust.

But instead of narrowing down their search, the studio are widening it, this time adding Ryan Phillippe and Channing Tatum to their list of possible candidates for the shield-wielding crime-fighter.

The duo joins most recent maybes Mike Vogel, Garrett Hedlund, Chris Evans and Wilson Bethel. It’s interesting to see that Marvel are considering both big names and relative unknowns for the role – they obviously have little prejudice either way.

So long as they get it right (and cast the part soon) we’ll be happy little campers.

Meanwhile, a shortlist has been drawn up for the female lead, with Keira Knightley, Emily Blunt and Alice Eve all in the running for the part of CA’s girlfriend Peggy Carter or female bum-kicker Golden Girl.

Across the Marvel office, Ed Norton has been talking about the possibility of another Hulk flick. During a chat with MTV, he confirmed that he won’t be appearing in Thor or Captain America, while other Marvel plans mean another Hulk is very much on the top shelf gathering dust.

But Norton’s not ruling out a return to the role too hastily.

“There’s always been an agenda I think to unspool a lot of the Marvel Universe and then come back,” Norton told SuperHeroHype. “I think they’ve got a lot of new stuff that they’re rolling out and then I think at some point they’re going to figure out how they want to get around to Avengers.”

Looks like it’s a no to another Hulk, but Norton could be appearing again in the role in a future Avengers flick. All good stuff to know.

Now let’s get ourselves a Captain America signed soon to join Hugo Weaving’s villainous Red Skull and we can go back to our everyday lives happy.

Are Phillippe and/or Tatum more to your liking?

The first Kick-Ass hasn’t even hit cinemas yet (it’s out at the end of March), but already comic writer Mark Millar is talking up a sequel.

Riding on the back of many a positive screening, Millar is optimistic that a comic book sequel will get the greenlight.

Recently he told Film School Rejects, “There will be a sequel. There’s just no doubt about it… It’s not being cocky with it. I love it. Everyone I know is really happy with it… And we could do a sequel relatively inexpensively.”

He’s aiming to start writing a comic book follow-up in April, while joking that they could get it published in time to coincide with Kick-Ass’ DVD premiere later in the year (good luck with that).

Here’s what he had to say about the specifics of the storyline (and be warned, there are giant spoilers for those who haven’t seen the film or read the original comic)…

“I’m going to start writing in April and Johnny [Romita, artist] will hopefully have it out by September, to cash in on that DVD. We’ll definitely see more of Hit Girl.

“I think we’ve stumbled onto the new Han Solo, there’s just something about this character that, from the minute she appears, we just went insane for her. We just loved her.

“Red Mist becomes the Joker to [Kick-Ass], you know? But we’re talking about another villain as well. So he’ll almost be a sidekick to this other guy.

“My working [name is] somewhere between the motherfucker and the cunts. That’s the two names I’m thinking of. I mean, it’s better than the Joker, isn’t it?”

Which all sounds awesomely awesome. We loved the first Kick-Ass, with its slick visuals and its clever comic book in-jokes, so more of the same is definitely an exciting promise.

No word if this comic sequel will get the big screen treatment, or if director Matthew Vaughan and screenwriter Jane Goldman would go for it. But after they obviously had so much fun with the first, we can’t imagine they’d say no if asked.

Read for Kick-Ass?

Not enticed by the promise of Martin Scorsese’s first foray into family film fare?

How about if Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen and Chloe Moretz were thrown into the mix? Ah, now there’s something to get intrigued by.

Fresh from working with Kingsley on Shutter Island, Scorsese has approached the thesping Brit to appear in his adaptation of the novel The Invention Of Hugo Cabret.

Kingsley would take on the significant role of George Méliès, the real innovative filmmaker who was responsible for the groundbreaking film A Trip To The Moon. It’s apparently a pivotal, sizeable role in the story.

Meanwhile, Sacha Baron Cohen would play the smaller part of the train station inspector who runs a Paris train station in the 1930s. There, an orphan boy by the name of Hugo Cabret (played by Boy In The Striped Pyjamas’ Asa Butterfield) is living within the walls.

Moretz (above) would play the eccentric Isabelle, who runs a little toy booth in the station.

The involvement of Méliès as a character is perhaps the reason that Scorsese jumped at the chance to make Cabret, with the filmmaker having shown an interest in the director before. Small wonder he’s cast a huge talent in the role.

The director has yet to find funding or a distributor for the flick, but we imagine that with all these big names flying around, it won’t be long before somebody jumps at the bait.

Life is a Cabret old chum… Intrigued by this odd bunch?

Last week we reported that the illustrious, cine-savvy and well respected Total Film team had only managed to guess 6/10 Oscar winners correctly.

It turns out that you lot are much better at this gambling lark than we are - here’s how you did;

Entries: 1335 in total

273 scored 7/10 (20%)

67 scored 8/10 (5%)

11 scored 9/10 (1%)

We always knew our readers were a well-informed bunch, but that is a very impressive haul!

The competition rules said that whoever scored more than us would be eligible - so we pooled all those who scored more than 6/10 and pulled a name out of the hat.

And without further adieu… here is the winner;

Stephen Comer!

- an email with details of how to claim the prize is on it’s way to you now!

Thanks for all your entries, and for following our live Twitter feed on the night.

How many did you guess right? Let us know!
